Missions

Missions and evangelism is important to us because it is important to God.

Our missions program, with the oversight of the Session, provides leadership to our congregation in helping TBPC to fulfill the Lord’s Great Commission: “Go therefore and make disciples of the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all the commands that I have given you.  And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age”.  (Matthew 28:18-20)

2020 – 2021 Missions Program

Priorities

- Believing and committing to the principle that the Church is God’s ordained vehicle and means to extend the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
- Equipping and motivating members of all ages and at all stages of life for active involvement in reaching the world with the Gospel.
- Deploying members into short-term and career missions’ roles with MTW, MNA, or other approved organizations.
- Partnering with MTW in advancing reformed, covenantal church planting movements worldwide.
- Partnering with RUF in advancing reformed, covenantal campus ministries.
- Working with parachurch ministries whose primary function is to come alongside existing churches in cooperative relationships emphasizing pastoral training, evangelism, church planting and discipleship training.
- Working with parachurch ministries that emphasize evangelism, church planting and discipleship in un-evangelized, hard-to-reach populations and/or people groups.

Goals:

- Develop prayer concern and awareness of the necessity for intercessory prayer generally for world evangelization and specifically for our missionaries.
- Recruit missionaries, with guidance from the Senior Pastor to identify, encourage, counsel, disciple, and commend members for their interest in missionary service.
- Evaluate and recommend support, retention and removal of missionaries.
- Review and update the Missions Program policies annually.
- Plan and conduct the annual Missions Conference.

Financial Procedures:

- Administer the Missions Fund, the vehicle for funding missionary support.
- Prepare and approve the Missions budget.
- Assure financial accountability (missionaries/ministries must operate under the accreditation of the ECFA).
- Review support levels including when support begins and ends, and recommend special one-time gifts.
- Oversee financing short-term and summer missions trips.
